Hi beauties!
In today's post I'm gonna be reviewing this VERY exciting device that I got straight from Japan.
I was contacted by an asian company called The Beautools and they offered to send their Facepump so I could do a review and tell you guys about it. I'm so glad they did, because I am absolutely loving it!
So, how does it work?
"The Facepump delivers safe low-level electrical impulses to strategic locations under the skin to firm and tone the facial muscles on both an immediate and long-term basis. The technology simultaneously repairs collagen in the deepest layer of skin (dermis), while gently erasing signs of aging in the top layer of skin (epidermis).
It also provides red light therapy (640nm ± 10nm). Red light has the unique ability to penetrate deeply into the skin, where it can stimulate collagen production, rejuvenate the face, encourage cellular repair, and boost the circulation to the face so that the complexion appears more youthful and vibrant. Red light photo facials are used for reducing scarring, wrinkles, deep lines and evening out the skin tone." (Source: The Beautools)
The device itself feels SO nice and luxurious. It comes in a little black and gold box (very fine and elegant looking), and when you open the box, you find the massager. It's black, with little gold dots, and a gold cap.
Then, in a separate tray below, you can find the USB charger and the instructions. The instructions have pictures where it clearly shows how and where to massage your face, but unfortunately, they come in Japanese. If you are one of the many people (like me) who don't speak Japanese, you can always email the company and they will kindly send you English instructions, which is what I did.
How was my experience with it?
I was a little bit disappointed at first when I saw the instructions, because in some cases when you get this kind of devices, they come in multiple languages, but luckily The Beautools had an electronic copy of the English version.
So because I didn't have the instructions at first, it took me a while to figure out how to make it work and to realize that you didn't just have to press the button, but you actually had to hold it until it beeped to turn it on.
You obviously have to charge it first, but honestly, it takes about 10-20 min to have enough charge to be able to use it, and it lasts quite a long time. Unlike what I was expecting, there is no vibration or movement at all from the device, you only get a red light and it's ready to use.
It is very easy to use, but you have to use some kind of 'gliding agent' for it work. In my case, I've been using it with a face oil, but you can also use a moisturiser, serum, gel or anything that falls under that category. If you don't add one of these products, the device will keep sticking to your skin and you won't be able to make run smoothly.
It is programmed to work for 3 minutes at a time, after which it'll turn off automatically, but you can always choose to turn it off manually by pressing the only button on it. In my case, I used it for 3 minutes the first time, but then the second, third and fourth time I went with six (3 for each half of my face) and I feel like it worked a bit better that way. It also has 3 different light intensities, but you have to make sure you always start with the lowest. You should not feel any pain, irritation or burning feeling at any given time.
As mentioned above, I've used this 4 times, and I can see a few slight changes on my skin: immediately the morning after using it (I use it at night after cleansing my face) I noticed that my face looked really plump and hydrated. I've also noticed that it's faded some of my freckles, making my skin tone a lot more even, and it's also helped diminish some of the fine lines across my forehead. I am very excited to keep seeing more changes as I continue to use it, given you should ideally be using it 2 to 3 times a week.
Would I recommend this to my readers?
The answer is yes, if you are willing to pay the price and invest on your skin. I honestly think that it's never too early to start looking after your skin, and you don't have to wait until you have wrinkles to fight them. It's always easier to prevent than to get rid of, and this will be the perfect tool to help you achieve that. Plus, it won't only help with this, but also with scarring, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, etc.
If you decide to go ahead and buy it, you have to be mindful that it's a gradual process and it requires patience -- you won't get significant results overnight, but it's definitely worth the money, given it's very similar to a salon/spa treatment for a fraction of the cost in the long run.
Like I said before, I got this product kindly sent to me by the lovely people at The Beautools. However, I wasn't paid by anyone to share my opinion and everything I said here is 100% honest.
Hope you guys enjoyed this post :)
Thanks for reading me, xo
